copy-paste-animation-principles style of film making

A beautiful animation short made by an animator who rather echoes my own sentiments about the subject!

Very tired of watching the same animation over and over again. In a lot of these movies released today, you can take the movements from one character, put it on another and  there would be no difference.
The problem is the lack of personality in the characters. Rather than watching a story, I sometimes feel like I'm watching an hour long showreel of someone who's demonstrating his knowledge of the 12 principles.
Case in point: How To Train Your Dragon

Anime: A special mention must be made about Anime here. Japanese animators still haven't fallen prey to the copy-paste-animation-principles style of film making prevalent in the west. Yay for them!
If you don't believe me, then rent out Samurai Champloo, Afro Samurai, Dragonball, Naruto and watch the magic unfold! Each one with it's own distinct style!
